Romeo’s academic background and his career experience have both lead him to the professional fields of adult education and community-based business development. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Moncton and a Certificate in Adult Education from Saint F. X. University. His post-graduate studies include a Master’s degree in Career Counseling at the University of Moncton and a Master’s in Co-operative Management at the University of Sherbrooke.
In the professional world, Roméo has promoted organizations and businesses in the Atlantic region for more than two decades by producing corporate videos and multimedia presentations for annual meetings and industry functions. In the co-operative business sector, he was a professional trainer and manager at Co-op Atlantic, designing and delivering professional development sessions for managers and supervisors, as well as board governance training sessions for elected board directors. He has lectured at the University of Moncton’s Business Administration faculty for three years.

He is a founding member of the Aberdeen Cultural Centre, in Moncton, N.B., and a former president of the board of directors.
Throughout his career, Roméo has nurtured a personal relationship of solidarity with the poor of this world by taking time off from his work in Atlantic Canada to take on short-term and longer-term community development projects in East and West Africa, as well as in Southeast Asia. He has worked for more than eight years in Côte d’Ivoire, Bénin, Rwanda and Myanmar with large NGOs like Oxfam, CUSO-VSO and the Canadian Co-operative Association.
